We finally took sweet revenge! Back on March 30, Balestier 11 bowled us out for just 59 runs. Honestly, that day still hurt. To make it worse, they took a photo with the scoreboard after beating us by 111 runs. Ouch. That picture was more painful than the loss itself. But yesterday was redemption day! We got another chance against the same team, and this time we didn’t just play, we roared. We put up a massive 229 runs in 25 overs, while they managed only 133 runs in their full 25 overs, losing 9 wickets. Okay fine, it wasn’t the perfect revenge (because perfect revenge would have been bowling them out under 59), but hey… this was satisfying enough! Once again, the toss wasn’t in our favor (seriously, what’s with our luck at the toss?), even when Vice Captain Vysh went. But no worries — our batting lineup was on fire. Selva gave us the dream start, scoring a classy 50, with two sixes over cover that announced he’s back in form. Omer played the most sensible innings of the day, anchoring beautifully for his 43 runs. I walked in, tried to settle, but walked back out quickly. No momentum from me this time. Arunesh came in and played a stylish knock of 25, full of effortless strokes. Then came our CAPS Bharath — with a momentum-shifting six that made us all sit up. He finished with 20 runs. But the fireworks? Oh boy, that was from Arun Anna and Nivi. They gave zero respect to the bowlers, raining sixes and boundaries like it was a festival. Arun Anna blasted an unbeaten 30 off just 9 balls, and Nivi smashed 28 off 12 balls. Pure madness! We ended with 229 runs for 7 wickets in 25 overs. Now for the bowling. The plan was simple: attack from ball one with an aggressive field. And it worked! I got a wicket in my very first over, and Vysh joined in with one in his first over too. From there, wickets kept coming like party invitations. Kevin was sharp with 2 wickets. Nivi grabbed a wicket. Tiru picked one with a beauty, thanks to Arunesh’s neat stumping. Pasupathy and Vicky bowled tightly, created chances, but luck wasn’t with them this time. Pasupathy even bowled through back pain before handing the ball to Tiru, who cashed in immediately. We pushed hard for a bonus point, but a few edges to the boundary, dropped catches (including one from me), and Vysh battling cramps meant we just missed it. Still, the win was comfortable and convincing. Positives: Selva’s classy fifty — those cover sixes were a delight. Umar’s solid 43 — our man in form. The explosive Nivi–Arun Anna partnership — pure carnage. Excellent catches from Vysh, Arunesh, Selva, and Vicky. A sharp run-out combo from Pasupathy, Arun Anna, and Vysh — fielding was top notch. Negatives: Dropped catches (yes, I dropped one, but thanks to Nivi for cleaning up with a bowled right after — saved me from the guilt trip). When wickets are up for grabs, go for them — saving runs is secondary. Special Mentions: Kevin, great bowling and your punctuality is improving! Keep it up. Ranjith, a huge thanks for substituting almost 20 overs — lifesaver! Player of the Match: Selva. Thank you, team, for this performance. You not only brought us a win but also brought back our smiles.
